Getting cuttings to take root

Well, to make roots. I read that I could propagate gardenias by putting a cutting in a jar of water with a paper towel plug at the top. I took a cutting of our monster gardenia bush and started with that.

Here it is now. Are the white bumps roots? I thought so but I did a little Googling and it seems the roots are supposed to come out of the bottom cut only. Hmmmm. These little white bumps are growing… so… I guess the experiment continues.

And now the gardenia has lots of new friends to hang out with while we wait.
